CSA Membership Terms & Conditions

We, Willow Oak Flower Farm LLC, wish to provide you with fresh, locally grown flower bouquets and you, the member, wish to receive a portion of our harvest. This agreement outlines our shared commitments to that relationship.

Section 1. Introducing Our Farm

A. Becoming a Part of Our Farm

Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) is a relationship between our farm and you as our customer. Rather than simply purchasing flower bouquets, our customers become “members” of this CSA farm who receive a portion of the farm’s harvest. CSA members help support their local farmers when they buy a share of the farms harvest in advance. This allows our farm to allocate additional funds for seeds, growing supplies and future infrastructure. Our CSA runs from January to December. A limited amount of flower shares are made available for purchase in early December. Bouquet deliveries begin as early as January, depending on the share purchased.

B. Our Growing Practices

Our flowers and bouquet foliage are grown without using conventional pesticides, fertilizers or herbicides. We practice a no till or low till way of bed preparation and our soil is amended with compost, natural minerals and sea derived soil amendment.  Free-range ducks are allowed continuous access to our flower fields during and after the growing season. This provides natural pest control in our fields and feeds our ducks a protein rich diet. In May of 2022 our farm became Certified Naturally Grown.

C. The Products We Expect for 2023

The list below highlights some of the more popular flowers we will have during our 2023 growing season. Depending on the share option you purchase, you may see some of these in your membership bouquets. This list is only a small portion of what we grow and is based on our best estimate. Section 2. Our Shared Commitments

A. Sharing in the Risk of Crop Failure

We promise to do our best and provide you with a bountiful share each week. You can expect a lush, healthy bouquet that is larger than a standard market bouquet. The quantity of flowers may vary from week-to-week/month-to-month/season-to-season due to extreme weather, insects, or other production factors despite our best efforts. By joining our CSA, you are agreeing to share the risk of crop failure with us and other members. In the unlikely event of a crop failure, our procedure is as follows: If only a small portion of crops fail, we compensate for the failed crops by filling your share with other crops grown on the farm that are ready for harvest at that time. If a large portion of crops fail, we may not be able to deliver any product for several weeks. We may cover for a crop loss by buying in from other local farmers with the same certifications and growing practices as our farm. This may not be a feasible option for all crops because of cost or widespread failure.

B. Sharing in the Reward of Crop Surplus

In addition to our CSA, our farm sells to farmers markets, restaurants, grocery stores, local food hubs, and wholesale. Although production is not segregated, our CSA receives top priority. When crops are especially abundant, we pack as much as possible into your share. After filling our CSA shares with the week’s harvest first, the remainder is sold to our other markets. We will handle additional surplus by donating it to assisted living facilities and senior centers.

Section 3. Picking Up Shares

You are responsible for picking up your share from the location and day you select during check out. If you cannot pick-up your share, you must arrange for someone else to pick it up for you. You are responsible for explaining the pick-up location and time window to your substitute. The best way to communicate with us is via email. Please save our email address to your contact list so it doesn't end up in a spam folder. Our email is willowoakflowerfarm@gmail.com. We will do our best to respond as soon as possible, but please understand that we spend most of our time in the field growing and not at our desk. When you sign up, you will be added to our CSA distribution list. We will email important information such as confirmation of your distribution schedule, future share availability and pick up reminders. Please notify us with any changes to your email address.

By submitting an online order form you are agreeing to pay the membership fee for the CSA share you indicate in check out. All payments are non-refundable unless requested 30 days prior to your first delivery date.
